Full Tilt Poker - Micro Limit Games
I know a few poker players who have been playing the micro limit games and Full Tilt and having a hard time winning because of too many suck-outs. This is the inherent problem with micro limit games, and while there are a few things you can do to combat this, it is very hard to play against players whose chips do not matter to them. There is no pushing them off a hand, no bluffing, and it is hard to play position. So, what do you do if you want to play micro limits?
Well, my first suggestion, is to move up in dollar amounts as soon as you can. Playing $.01/.02 games may be good practice, but it can also riddle your game with bad habits if you are not careful. These tables tend to be games of "go fish" and if you aren't careful, you will be playing go fish right along with the other fishes! It is like playing with your 12 year old nephew for match sticks; the match sticks don't really mean anything, so it is easy to spend them. If you start playing like this, you will get killed when you get in a real game against real players.
Having said that, my other suggestion is actually to loosen your play a bit! Remember, poker is a game of adjustments, and if you don't adjust to the table you are playing at, you can't win. If everyone is limping in ahead of you, limp right along with them. The difference between you and them should be your post-flop play. If you can out-play them after the flop, you can make a difference. Also, be smart enough to know when you hit the flop and when you didn't. Playing 8-6o and hitting a flop of 6-J-K does not constitute hitting the flop. If you feel it takes a real hand you take the pot down, make sure you have it because you probably are not going to be able to bluff much at this level.
Try this simple tactic if you are playing micro limit games on Full Tilt and while I won't guarantee you will win your way to riches, it may keep you from throwing your computer out the window!
